Wuss prevention WALL SQUAT

Noun 1. wuss - a person who is physically weak and ineffectual
doormat, weakling

I watched something last night that was so 'blog worthy' I just had to type it out today. I should have taken photos but was in a state of, "Oh! MY GOODNESS !!!" I just couldn't leave and take time to get the camera.

My remarkable son Adam:
,

...and myself are involved in a 'fitness competition'. This week we did drills to gage the level of change in 10 weeks. One of the drills is a timed wall squat.

I timed Adam. I witnessed something astounding in doing so.

The first 4/5 minutes he looked strained but at ease, was even playing 'air guitar' :)

I looked closely at the wall and his posture and his arms. Was this kid 'leaning' on somehthing??? Wha???? NOPE

My jaw dropped as he hit the next phase from 5 to 10 minutes. There were beads of sweat flowing in rivers down his face. He was no longer goofing off or grinnin'. He was focused.

He was obviously diggin' deep. He said his goal was to make it to 10 minutes.

He made it to 10 and decided to go for 15.

( to put this in perspective, I had my other kids give it a go later and they each made it about 90 seconds)

Yes, Adam is built and has very muscular legs. BUT...... THAT was not what was keeping him there. The muscles were d.o.n.e.

It was mental toughness. Fight. Grit. and Determination. It was somethin'..

I watched his body sweat, his legs shake and his eyes close.

He held it.

He looked to me for his time and the 'awe factor' which was easy to give, and he held it some more.

I couldn't stand it. Couldn't BELIEVE it. Was AMAZED.

This 15 year old kid has more moxy than most adults I know. I was just so affected by his inner workings. What he is made of is remarkable.

He went 15:03

His dose of our geneologic "Fighting Irish", must be pretty high... Man oh, Man he was such a fighter!

What a superb effort on all fronts, physical, mental, and high goal setting, achieving and just plain DRIVE.

Wall squat = wuss prevention

Who knew?
